Uvest Property Investments was formed in 2008 to serve as the central management company for the Group’s growing self-owned residential property portfolio. Given the increasing size of its portfolio, it made sense to consolidate and internalise all outsourced property & asset management services.

Since 2008 the Group has accumulated and currently manages the single largest privately owned residential portfolio in the Western Cape comprising of more than 1 500 residential rental properties, with a strong future development pipeline. The present combined portfolio value is in excess of R1 billion.

Uvest Property Group also has strong credentials as a leading developer of affordable housing in the Western Cape specifically in the defined FSC market. This led to the formation of a specialist residential rental fund: “Uvest Housing Fund (RF) (Pty) Ltd” in 2013 with joint venture partners Old Mutual (exclusively focused on providing a FSC impact residential rental fund for the Western Cape).

This fund, to the value of R300m, is already fully committed. During 2014 Uvest Property Group expanded their activities to Gauteng. Uvest Residential Fund (Pty) Ltd was established to incorporate a Gauteng and Western Cape based residential and student housing fund, with exclusive focus on the FSC and affordable housing/student target market.  To this extent, in collaboration with joint venture partner Old Mutual, a new R400m fund has been created.

Uvest has secured a well-profiled development pipeline, located across Johannesburg, Pretoria, Krugersdorp and the Western Cape.

These opportunities will serve as the foundation of the Group’s Gauteng and further Western Cape expansion, with strategic partner Old Mutual.

Implementation of this second residential rental fund will see in excess of 1 000 new units rolled-out over the next 24-month period.

The aforesaid development and investment initiatives have grown in scale. Uvest continues to unlock new strategic investment opportunities and accelerate delivery on Uvest’s socio-economic commitment to provide affordable rental housing to the South African public.

This strategic drive is supported by the fact that the demand for quality affordable rental housing currently outstrips the market supply by a significant margin and therein lies the key to delivering a sustainable, well-profiled quality housing solution to uplift the living quality of so many South Africans.
